Delft Software Days 2015 26 October 6 November, Delft, The Netherlands

Delft

Dr. Eric Comerma from the RPS RI office will be presenting at Delft Software Days on Nov. 2nd , Netherlands. Eric’s presentation will discuss how RPS’s modeling systems OILMAP, SARMAP and CHEMMAP are seamlessly integrated with Deltares operational metocean forecasting system, MATROOS, to support the Rijkswaterstaat - the Dutch Water Institute in charge of maritime, coastal and river pollution emergency response. Learn more about OILMAP, SARMAP and CHEMMAP. To learn more about Delft Software Days click here If you would like to setup a meeting with Eric please click here.

Railroad Environmental Conference 27-28 October at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Railroad

Dr. Matt Horn from the RPS RI Office will be attending the Railroad Environmental Conference. The conference will be focused on the transport of hydrocarbon products by rail and the environmental concerns associated with rail transport. If you would like to setup a meeting with Matt please click here .

2015 Rising Seas Summit 3-5 November 2015; Boston, MA USA

RisingSeas

Dr. Nathan Vinhateiro will be attending the 2015 Rising Seas Summit. The Rising Seas Summit brings professionals together to highlight the interrelationships between sea level rise, climate change and extreme events. The summit is an opportunity for stakeholders to share knowledge and work together to reduce and mitigate environmental, economic and social degradation induced by climate change. Esri Ocean GIS Forum 4-5 November 2015;Redlands, California, USA

Esri

Eoin Howlett will be presenting at ESRI Ocean GIS Forum on 4-6 November in Redlands, California, USA. The forum allows those in the GIS community to share ideas with colleagues and shape the future of GIS design. Topics discussed will be: ways multi-dimensional data and web apps can help people put scientific information to work; and how online platforms can be used for sharing knowledge across disciplines and collaborating with multiple stakeholders. The ESRI Ocean GIS forum is an opportunity for those in ocean GIS community to forges new concepts in ocean analytics and applications. Clean Gulf 10-12 November 2015; New Orleans, LA, USA

Dr. Deborah French McCay, Nicole Mulanaphy and Jill Row will be attending 2015 Clean Gulf. Dr. Deborah French McCay , Nicole and Jill, along with Dr. Dagmar Schmidt Etkin (Environmental Research Consulting) and Dr. Colin Moore (Herbert Engineering Corporation), will be conducting a workshop titled Modeling Tools and Methods for Quantifying and Managing Risk for Oil Operations on Tuesday, November 10 from 8am 12pm. To sign up for this workshop click here.

Details on the workshop are: Modeling Tools and Methods for Quantifying and Managing Risk for Oil Operations Workshop: Do you need to evaluate and implement risk mitigation measures to prevent spills and minimize spill impacts through effective response planning? This workshop will address both sides of the risk equation probability and consequences and their respective mitigation, through the use of state-of-the-art modeling tools to analyze, quantify, and manage spill risk from all phases of your oil operations. Our experts will help you increase your knowledge about the newest and most comprehensive modeling approaches to quantifying probabilities of oil releases and predicting the characteristics of spills (e.g., volumes, locations, oil types) that will be the driving factors in determining their effects. Qualitative and quantitative methods for evaluating effective prevention measures to mitigate the probability of incidents occurring will be discussed. The workshop will also present robust approaches to analyze consequences of spill events through trajectory and fate modeling, exposure modeling, and methods to simulate and evaluate impact mitigation measures of spill response. These modeling tools and approaches are appropriate for spills related to all aspects of the oil industry from exploration and production, to transportation by tank vessel, rail, pipeline, or truck, to storage at facilities, and refineries. These risk analysis tools are appropriate for applications related to oil spill response planning, environmental impact analysis, net environmental benefit analysis, bow-tie analysis, risk management, and engineering design. Our instruction team has extensive experience meeting the regulatory requirements in the United States and internationally. Attendees will leave this workshop better informed on how to manage and quantify spill risk on future projects.
